3K’s Receive Bronze Club Mark Award
The Karu Kyoshi Kan — or 3Ks — Judo Club, based at Harry Mitchell Leisure Centre, was presented with Clubmark award earlier this month by the chairman of the British Judo Association, Densign White.
The award recognises standards of child protection, sports equality, ethics and club management.
On the evening of the presentation there were demonstrations by junior members at the club as well as senior members, many who have competed at a national level.
The club has been supported by the Triple S programme, a scheme run by Sandwell Leisure Trust to encourage youngsters to take up sport and also to support gifted and talented young people who are excelling in their chosen discipline.
Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for culture and leisure Cllr Linda Horton said: “I am absolutely delighted that 3Ks Judo Club has achieved Clubmark status.
“I know that club members have really worked hard in order to meet all of the stringent standards involved.
“It’s also been heartening to know that Triple S staff have been there on hand to help, support and guide the club in the right direction throughout the process.
“It’s yet more evidence of the Triple S programme and great partnership working making a really important impact on young people’s lives”.
